Hurricane Michael Updates:

A Message from David Southall, CEO

Hurricane Michael struck on October 10th and has definitely left an impact on all of us. Our Community, our families and friends, our credit union, and our members all have been affected, and as CEO of Innovations, I’m proud to say that we have done everything in our power to help those in need. Our employees have put their personal matters aside to be here for our members, and we are forever grateful to those who sacrificed so much to make a difference at Innovations. Once the storm passed, our Executive Team worked diligently to open as quickly as possible – and we were able to open just days after the storm, beginning with our Thomas Drive branch on Sunday October 14th, followed by Callaway and Lynn Haven the next day. Each day we were able to increase the number of services to our members. Today, we are operating full service at 4 of our 6 branches. Two branches received extensive damages and will be closed for repairs. Those branches are 1038 Harrison Avenue and 700 W 23rd Street. We will continue to update you on our progress.

We felt it was critical that we provide immediate help to our members of Innovations. We implemented several programs immediately following the storm. We offered up to 90 day deferments on loans, along with a Hurricane Assistance Loan, and a waiver of fees. To date, we have provided assistance to thousands of members and the requests continue each and every day. Credit bureau reporting has also been temporarily suspended to our two agencies; Trans Union and Equifax. Communication during events like this is crucial, and we have been communicating to our members primarily through social media / Facebook and our website. We will continue to use these for future communication and updates, and we ask our friends of Innovations to be patient and considerate when posting comments on social media. We all know firsthand how frustrating it has been to communicate and be consistent through this difficult time, and most negative experiences were able to be resolved. We have done a lot of things very well during this, and we have also had some things that didn’t go so well.

Our motto is ‘People helping People’, and our promise is to ‘Always provide service that exceeds our members’ expectations through each stage of their lives’. We were here for you before Hurricane Michael, we were here with you during Hurricane Michael, and we will be here for you after Hurricane Michael to help you and your family into the future.

We understand this is a very difficult and emotional time for everyone involved. We are trying to restore access to your banking services with us as quickly as possible given the limited resources we have available to us.

Given the devastating destruction of Hurricane Michael, we understand you’ve got a lot on your mind. In order to help you concentrate more on taking care of your family, personal issues and other priorities, Innovations has already started waiving late payment fees on all Innovations loans and suspended credit bureau reporting for our members affected by Hurricane Michael.

We are now offering these assistance programs* to relieve the burden of your financial worries:

  • Up to 90-day deferrals on your current Innovations loans – please contact our Call Center at 1.888.313.7837
  • Hurricane Assistance Loans – please contact our Lending Call Center at 1.877.536.2933

Our Call Center is open 24/7 to assist you. We do anticipate a high call volume, so your patience when trying to get through is highly appreciated. Please know your call will be answered in the order in which it was received

When calling, it is very important to provide your most current email and/or phone number, especially if you are contacting us from an email or phone number we don’t have on record for you.

If you have access to email, we will be able to process your request electronically with an electronic signature form so you will not need to visit a branch to complete your request.
